Oceana Middle School’s sixth, seventh and eighth grade cheerleaders earned the first place trophy, in the large group category, during the Fairmont Cheer Classic Feb. 4 at Fairmont State College. The cheerleaders were required to perform a technical cheer and dance routine in a field of six teams from throughout the state. The championship is a first for the county, according to Kristy Fleenor, cheer coach.
