The City of Mullens is partnering with the Mullens Area Chamber of Commerce to provide a memorable celebration of the holiday season Thursday, Nov. 29.
“We are encouraging all our homes, businesses and restaurants to participate in our Christmas decorating contest and Parade of Lights,” emphasized Charlene Cook, chamber secretary.
“Our goal is to make Mullens a holiday attraction for shopping, dining and taking time to enjoy one another.
“The holiday season is quickly approaching. It’s a cherished, festive time to share with our friends, family and neighbors,” Cook added.
Judging for the decorating contest will be conducted Nov. 29. Winners will be announced during the downtown Christmas tree lighting ceremony, following the Parade of Lights.
Ronda Stone, chamber president, will present prizes to the float winners in two divisions – businesses and non-profits with first and second place prizes of $50 and $25, respectively.
Mayor Jenny Ann Lusk will present ribbons and plaques to decorating contest winners in both the business and home divisions.
The evening will include the tree-lighting ceremony, visits with Santa, hot chocolate stations, and caroling. The Mullens Fire Department will also be giving away free hot dogs, sponsored by the chamber.
Parade lineup will begin at the pool at 5 p.m.
