New school

Mary Catherine Brooks/The Wyoming County Report Construction on the new Pineville Elementary School is nearing completion. Students will not attend classes there when classes begin Aug. 22, but will be in the new building by the second semester, according to Frank Blackwell, Wyoming County Schools superintendent. Due to the weather, the project is about a month behind schedule, Blackwell said. Even if the construction is complete by Aug. 22, crews need time to furnish and decorate the new facility. Wyoming County Schools was awarded just over $9 million from the West Virginia School Building Authority in 2011 to build the new elementary school to house pre-school through fourth grade students. The current Pineville Elementary building has been flooded three times since 2001.
